Growth & strategy · UK

We've scaled businesses past the ceiling yours has hit.

The revenue plateau, the operational drag, the gap between where you are and where you should be. We've been there as principals — not advisers.

The gap nobody talks about

You don't need another consultant. You need someone who's actually run a business your size.

"We have supported the Calder Flint founding team and their Investor Group with numerous transactions and our relationship extends back several years."
Praetura · UK SME Lending & Equity · c.£600m deployed

Most owners reach a point where they've outgrown their advisers, and everyone close enough to help is too close to see the problem clearly.

What you need isn't a report. It's board-level thinking — commercial, financial, operational — without the permanent hire. We've built, acquired, scaled and turned around businesses as principals, from owner-managed firms to a £150m automotive group. Growth mandates are run from our Manchester office, on site anywhere in the UK when it matters.

One senior operator in the room, for as long as you need them — a day a month, two days a week, or a seat on the board. No PAYE, no equity, no recruitment process.

Take one seat, or take the room.

We've held most of these seats — CEO, CSO, CFO — when it was difficult. For the rest we bring specialists we've worked with for years, and we stay at the table.

Signs you're ready

The ceiling you can feel but can't see.

The six we hear most often. One is enough to make the call worth it.

  • You're the bottleneck in every decision
  • Revenue has plateaued and you can't work out why
  • Systems and reporting have stopped keeping up
  • You know you need senior hires but not who or when
  • Untapped potential in your pricing, customers or operations — and you can feel it
  • You've got ambition but nobody to pressure-test the plan

45 minutes, one-to-one with a senior operator — never an account manager.

What we do

What a growth engagement looks like.

Find the money that's already in the business. Build the capacity to handle it. Then plan the stage after this one.

01

Commercial strategy

  • Revenue and margin analysis — where the money actually comes from, and where it should
  • Pricing — most businesses we work with are undercharging
  • Customer concentration — if one client leaving would break you, we fix that
  • New market entry and diversification
  • Introductions to lenders, equity investors and strategic partners
02

Operational improvement

  • Organisational design — the right people in the right seats
  • Process and systems audit — what's slowing you down
  • Supply chain and procurement
  • Working capital and cash conversion
  • ERP and CRM implementation across multi-site operations
03

Strategic planning

  • 12-month and 3-year planning with financial modelling
  • Funding strategy — debt, equity, grants, asset finance
  • Acquisition strategy — targets, due diligence, deal structure
  • Exit planning — two years out or ten
  • Shareholder agreements, partnership and equity arrangements

Stop 02 · The Strategic Roadmap

The moves that unlock the next phase — sequenced and costed.

Within 48 hours of your call: a written roadmap of your commercial position, operational capacity, competitive landscape and funding structure. Five sections, no filler, nothing you can't act on next week.

£1,500 + VAT · 48-hour delivery · the £197 Conversation fee is credited in full against it.

Before you book

Questions, answered.

What do I get for £197?

45 minutes one-to-one with a senior operator, within 24 hours of booking, plus a written summary of your first three moves. You leave knowing what's capping the business, where the untapped potential is and what to do first. The fee is credited in full against the Strategic Roadmap.

How is this different from a management consultancy?

A consultancy sells you a framework and a team of analysts. We've run businesses the size of yours — made payroll, set prices, hired and fired, sat in front of the credit committee. You get the principal, in the room, and advice we'd be willing to be accountable for.

What does a fractional C-suite role actually look like?

Anything from a day a month to two days a week, with the scope, cadence and cost agreed up front. We take the seat and the accountability that comes with it — no PAYE, no equity, no recruitment fee, and notice measured in weeks rather than years.

We're profitable and growing. Why would we need you?

Because a plateau is far cheaper to prevent than to fix. Pricing, customer concentration and operational capacity are the three that catch growing businesses out, and all three are easiest to address while the numbers still look good.

Can you help us raise money or buy a business?

Yes. Debt funding runs through Calder Flint Finance — free to you, since we're paid by the lender, and we act as an introducer, not a lender. Equity, acquisitions and exits run through Calder Flint Capital. Both start with the same conversation.
